Stream crossing mandatory at the end. Not too dangerous but can be knee deep and moving so always be careful.

Description

Bear Creek is a great backcountry trail that drops into Silverton. It can be hike-a-biked but is usually ridden by getting dropped off at Molas Pass and riding the CT until getting to the Bear Creek start.

Bear Creek starts with a lot of overgrowth and traverses/climbs its way to what locals call 'Hunt Camp'. You'll know you are there by the fire pits and flat spot with a beautiful view of a basin above. From there, you drop into one of the most fun sections of the whole trail. It is a steeper, more raw, rooty and rocky section that is a blast for the gravity seeking rider.

Once out of that section, you ride scree for what feels like a long time as you traverse your way down. Mingled throughout the scree are larger sections that can challenge in a fun way those that like awkward and slow tech.

Finally, the trail is wrapped up with high-speed descent that is ripping through the pines. Very fast sections with some fun natural hits and pulls if you are someone seeking the flow throughout the sprinkled roots and rocks. It finishes T-boning into Mineral Creek where you must cross. A rather easy crossing but requires wading through the water. It is usually flowing just strong enough you must still be careful but isn't too much trouble to cross.
