Short and smooth trail system -- perfect for beginners and kids.
Overview
These trails showcase some classic aspects of eastern NC like wetlands, sand, and cypress trees. They also have some fun features that are otherwise hard to find, like rock gardens! Check out the paved pumptrack and progressive jump line north of the lake for added fun!
Need to Know
Dogs are allowed on leash at Wildwood, but NOT on the riding trails.
Description
Find the trail entrance at the southeastern corner of the parking lot. Take a right once through the gateway onto the High Ground trail that borders the lake. Once you reach the doubletrack again, go straight across and take a right to follow the singletrack along the top of the bank. After this point, you'll be following all rights. Take the bank trail all the way to the southern end, and follow signs for the
Cypress Loop. This is the most challenging loop, featuring some rock gardens and an optional skinny. Once finished the
Cypress Loop, turn right onto the trail at the top of the bank until you get to the
Wetlands Loop. Turn right, and enjoy the fast, twisty, almost pumptrack-like flow! Take a right back onto the bank trail until you get to the
Boardwalk Loop. This trail features two long twin boardwalks. The lollipop portion of the loop can be VERY sandy if it hasn't rained -- watch the corners! At the end of the
Boardwalk Loop, turn right and you'll arrive back at the parking lot.
The trails are only signed in the CCW direction, but no rules explicitly prohibit riding in the other direction, so feel free to reverse it once you're finished.
