Overview
In the spring, expect super-bloom levels of wildflowers along with marine inversion layers across the valley. The loop starts with an easy paved climb from where you're parked. From the entrance to
Davy Brown, you'll descend essentially continuously for nearly 3,000 vertical feet along historic singletrack. Once you hit the campground at the end, it's just a fire road climb back to the car.
Description
The initial paved climb is easy and lined with potreros known for wildflowers. The descent is entirely on
Davy Brown, which is rolling. untechnical riding with some steeper sustained sections. No crazy hard corners or rock gardens, just classic 15-minute descending -- testing your grip stamina more than strength.
The fire road up from the campground is beautiful, and worth taking it easy in order to enjoy the views. You'll summit near Figueroa Mountain and descend mellow doubletrack to the car.
History & Background
This trail is named after the trapper who built his cabin at the base of the trail by the creek. The foundation can still be found today.
