Features Views

Family Friendly Beautiful views and multiple shorter segment options. Lakeside and pond side sections. Views of NYC skyline (50 miles) with relatively clear days.

Overview

MTBers, gravel rider, hikers, or horses are welcome in this rolling and mostly forested trail system. There is parking on Pine Hill and Agress Rd. Flowing trails are contoured by mountain bike zealots. It's not technical, there are good climbs, mostly singletrack with some field edge and carriage path. The route passes Perrineville Lake and several smaller ponds and the track is typically dry except a few short lower sections.

Need to Know

Porta-pottie on Agress Rd. Good cell coverage throughout. Very dog friendly. Pack out your refuse. Plenty of parking in gravel lots.

Description

The route, as mapped, is from the parking lot on Pine Hill Rd near Millstone Rd. Mine Hill Trail climbs to the top, where an open observation of NYC is possible. Descend through a bowl with banked turns and return to the parking lot, cross Millstone Rd, and pick up the brand new Midway Trail right at the intersection of Millstone Rd and Pine Hill Rd.

The trail passes through woods and short sections of historic Vigh farm (now county property) before ascending a small ridge and down to Perrineville Lake. Cross the dam on Perrineville Rd (watch traffic as the road is narrow) and pick up the Lakeside Loop trail. Loop either way and return back on Midway Trail to Pine HIll Parking Lot.

For additional six miles, cross Agress Rd at marked crossing and take Rocky Brook Trail to Rochdale Rd and back..

History & Background

Views of NYC. Historic area at crossroads of American Revolution. Land farmed by founding farmers that are memorialized by the road names in the area.
