Overview
Star Hill is an official mountain bike trail system located at the Forry Preserve in Heath, Ohio. This trail system is managed by the City of Heath and the Central Ohio Mountain Bike Organization (COMBO). Parking is available at the Heath High School on the Southwest side of the parking lot. The mountain bike trail is accessible via the paved bike path across the covered bridge. This trail system is in the final stages of development (Feb 2024) and will include signage and kiosks over the next few months. This trail system is combined with newly developed multi-use EMS trails that spans over 250 acres. The Star Hill Recommended loop is considered a blue trail system for intermediate riders with several sections that include steep climbs and descents as well as technical features. We strongly recommended pre-riding or walking sections of the trail for first time users.
Description
This is primarily singletrack trail and contains over 1,700 feet each of climbing and descending over 7 miles of trail. The Forry Preserve trail system contains over 12 miles of singletrack. The recommended loop brings riders to multiple downhill and enduro-style trails that intertwine the recommended loop. EMS trails were built in 2023 to provide emergency access and easier routes for beginners and/or hikers. The recommended loop is considered a blue trail (moderate) due to its difficulty in climbing and descending with technical features. The trail contains amazing views over the Licking River and City of Heath during that day and night time. The trail drains well and is accessible 365 days per year.
History & Background
Forry Preserve was purchased from Daniel Forry through a federal land grant in 2008. The City of Heath recognized this as an official mountain bike and multi-purpose trail in the summer of 2023. The trail system is maintained and operated by local riders, Central Ohio Mountain Bike Organization (COMBO) and the City of Heath Parks Department.
