Need to Know
This is also a self-guided nature walk used by families and campers in the state park.
Description
Levsa Canyon Trail is an offshoot of
Reilly Canyon Trail in Trinidad Lake State Park. It is in better shape overall, with some more recently added wood stairs (rideable) and less erosion. But it remains similarly steep and chunky, with loose rock and drops scattered throughout. There are great views of the lake to be enjoyed.
This trail can be ridden in either direction but it's best counter clockwise. From the intersection with
Reilly Canyon Trail, turn left and power up a brief climb before descending down towards the lake. Be prepared for rock rollers/drops and a staircase. There are loose rock slabs and chunk throughout, with some interludes of smooth trail. After the descent, you'll emerge at a lake overlook, then climb some kickers with a couple of techy moves up over water bars. The trail rejoins
Reilly Canyon Trail near the campground.
