Family Friendly Pleasant woods trail in a popular city park.

Description

This is a fresh cut of singletrack added to West Hills Park in 2023. It's a pretty basic trail and quite short, but the builders did a really good job packing fun turns and dips into this small plot of woods. Scott Cleland rides just as good as any beginner trail in South Knox, but stands alone out here as the only one of its kind in West Hills.

The trail is a compact series of broad switchbacks and lightly rolling straightaways in the woods. The surface is mostly smooth and hard-packed, remarkably free of rocks and roots. There is one small gap jump you can choose to take, but this wasn't in great shape when I last rode it. Keep in mind that this is a fairly new trail, and there is talk of further trail work in this part of the park, so the conditions could change. But in general this trail makes a great little intro to mountain biking. or just a nice dose of variety to add to your greenway ride.
