Need to Know
Description
Start this trail by parking at the Southview Trailhead. Hop onto the obvious paved path leading out of the parking lot for a few hundred meters before turning right onto
Lichen It.
Follow
Lichen It for 2.8 miles, navigating easy switchbacks and a gentle grade, until reaching the top of
Lichen It where you'll encounter an intersection of four trails. Take a left onto the
Green Hollow Trail. Immediately, climb through a short rock garden and into slightly steeper terrain.
Be cautious while pedaling up
Green Hollow, as mountain bikers also ride down this section of trail. Follow it for 0.7 miles until reaching an obvious sign and trail marker for
Boulder Dash. Turn right here and navigate an awkward traverse to the top of the trail.
Once on
Boulder Dash, the excitement begins. Begin with a basalt rock garden that guides you through a tight corner and into the two gnarliest chutes of the trail. Continue along the narrow trail into another tight corner before encountering a beautifully constructed basalt staircase, leading you through a labyrinth of rock. After exiting this section, continue through a few more tight corners and drops until reaching another intersection
At this intersection, take a right onto
Lava Flow. The trail starts with a well-built singletrack and eases up considerably compared to the rough terrain of
Boulder Dash.
Lava Flow is a mix of flow and technical riding, featuring high-speed singletrack sections and rock-filled segments that offer more challenge. A few optional wall rides are available along the trail, as well as optional doubles and jumps.
