There is a boat launch and campground at the start of the trail.

Starting at Buck Hall Recreation area parking this trail is fairly easy with few obstacles for the first couple miles. Reaching where Awendaw Creek pours into the Intercoastal water way, the trail becomes root covered in places that may challenge new riders. Reaching Awendaw creek canoe launch site and parking area, the trail smooths back out before a short section of pavement along state highway 17 before joining back into singeltrack. Here the trail will merge onto a short section of doubletrack before turning off again into singletrack then joining the Palmetto Trail - Swamp Fox Passage
