Overview
Get ready for a technical sufferfest with this 8.2-mile loop that climbs some of the best trails the Boy Scout network has to offer. This place holds some of the most challenging anti-flow technical riding in the area. It's a great trail to attempt without dabbing, and there are many other trails in the vicinity to link up with. However, I find this route makes this anti-flow trail a "kind-of-flow" experience. It's perfect for those seeking a Type 2 fun adventure, with multiple spots to hop into the lake along the way.
Need to Know
There are no toilets at trailhead.
Description
Begin by parking at the
Rhythm and Blues trailhead. Follow the light singletrack that parallels the road southwest before transitioning onto Twist and Shout. Enjoy the flowy singletrack, which always seems to end too soon, before following a road to the bottom of
Quail Creek Overlook trail.
Follow this doubletrack for a short distance and hit a singletrack trail on your right, a blue with tight tread and challenging switchbacks. Traverse through a fast ravine, crossing it into
Lakeside East. From here, climb more intermediate trails before ascending a short road into Adventure Scout, where the most challenging sections of trail exist.
Ride the loop in either direction (counterclockwise is easier). Expect two notable rock rollers that are more challenging then anything else on the trail. Then, return via Boyscout Lower to the Wash, a short fun downhill, where you'll take a right on Cub Scout Lower back to the main road. Finally, return on the gentle singletrack of Twist and Shout back to your car.
