Mountain Top Shuttles offers MTB shuttle service from down town Old Fort, NC to the Blue Ridge Parkway above Heartbreak Ridge. You'll access the route from the Old Mitchell Toll Road which is closed to bikes from October through December 31 each Fall.

Lower Heartbreak begins at the dead end of Jarrett Creek Road - FSR 4030 southwest of where Star Gap ends. The trail begins with a narrow, technical and exposed series of punchy climbs as you ascend up to the ridge line. Don't be discouraged. The climb is relatively short at about .5 miles. You'll have stunning views at the rest spot up on the ridge. From here you'll descend berm turns, rock jumps, gaps, step-ups, step-downs, rock roll and more features packed into this fast and fun trail. Views are expansive and you'll probably have to ride this more than once to both see the views and enjoy all the features. Difficulty is Blue - Intermediate and obstacles can be avoided or rolled if desired.

This trail completes the "Full Heartbreak Ridge" route from the Blue Ridge Parkway down to the town of Old Fort, NC. From Parkway to town you'll descend 12.4 miles with 4,280 ft of vertical drop.
