Description
Take the climbing trail
Upward Mobility all the way up to the bigjunction near Stan's Overlook. From here continue the climb on up the mountain on
Raging Ridge Trail, which is two-way. Keep grinding on up this long climb, which will take you through some clearcut areas with nice views.
Eventually you'll pass the top of Rattlesnake Mountain and have the option for a side trip to the summit. Otherwise continue on to your reward: The black-diamond downhill of
No Service. This starts with a nice flow section, but quickly becomes tighter and steeper and has some drops. Experts looking to bite off more can take the double-black alt line called
The People's Elbow.
Farther down
No Service, there is also the alternate trail
Invictus, a double black for the diehards. Most people will elect to stay on the main trail as mapped here, which empties onto the access road where
Invictus rejoins.
Take the doubletrack for a short distance before turning onto
Return Policy for the climb out. It starts with several tight switchbacks but eases up after a while. This will deliver you back up to Raging Ridge, and at that point the climbing is pretty much over. Now you get to enjoy the swoopy descent down the ridge trail.
After that comes the cherry on top, which is the all-thrills romp down Poppin Tops and Flow State that delivers you back to the car.
