Overview
Riders can access this loop from either the North or South Side parking lots/trail heads of Galbraith. From where the loop starts/finishes it is closer to the North Side but, riders can tailor the start/ending points to fit wherever they choose to start from. This route has multiple excellent overlooks/viewpoints for rides to stop and take a break at. Also, it does an excellent job of working a perimeter around Galby and avoiding some of the more "overcrowded" trails. An excellent cross country singletrack adventure for sure!
Description
Starting at the "Bears", you'll find yourself overlooking Stewart Mountain and Mt. Baker behind that. A stunning overlook and an excellent place to be on a clear and sunny day.
Mama Bear,
Papa Bear , and
Goldilocks Connector are all tight, twisty, fast, and fun flow trails which are covered in Foxglove and other beautiful wildflowers in the spring and summer. After that its time to hop onto
Oly Spur,
Keystone, and
Wonderland climb through the woods. All the trails do a pretty good job of setting you up to continue onto the next one, basically just keep following from trail to trail and think about making a big loop in your head.
At the top of
Wonderland we get our first two main downhill trails:
Scorpion and then
Whoopsie Woodle. You'll only ride upper
Scorpion so, go straight at the split and it will spit you out onto a fire road and then you'll turn left and head over to Whoopsie.
Whoopsie Woodle is a long, tight, and technical singletrack descent which makes your hands and upper body feel just as tired as your legs! After Whoopsie ends make a right on the gravel road and then take your first left onto
Lair of the Bear. It will feel like you're riding a similar trail as Whoopsie but
Lair of the Bear takes you to the bottom of South Side Galbraith. From here you'll climb up
Straw (first pig), and then connect over to
Pony Express where you'll traverse over to
Bandito and then finally a short gravel road descent back to the start of the loop!
