Overview
Amazing views with a long, fun, flowing downhill that's surprisingly not very technical for this area.
Description
There are lot's of ways to ride the trails in this area, this is just one recommended loop to the very top which earns you a long, screaming fun downhill.
Park in the Glacier Grille parking lot in Coram. Head south down the Gateway to Glacier bike path along US Hwy 2 towards Martin City. Turn left at Martin city and ride down South Fork Road East. Turn left at Desert Mountain Rd FR497.
At the junction of NF590B (Abbot Basin Rd) you have a choice. You can continue on the Desert Mountain Rd FR497 all the way to the top, or you can turn left on NF590B and ride it until you reach and climb
Trough Trail #44 to connect back into FR497. This route recommends the NF590B (Abbot Basin Rd) sneak as the Trough Trail climb is as fun as it's descent on the way back down.
Once you hit the
Trough Trail #44, take a right and ride it until you hit FR497 again then climb that all the way to the top.
When you first reach the top, stay left on FR497, past the tower to where the two-track Desert Mountain downhill starts headed back South. Do not go right to the top of Belton Point facing north.
The two-track is a 4-wheeler route that intersects FR497 twice but gives you a start on some fun downhill. After the second two-track section, you'll hit the
Trough Trail #44 again and this time descend it. At the end of the Trough Trail, cross the NF590B road and a little to your right is the continuation of what becomes a fast, flowing downhill section of singletrack. This is the highlight of the ride.
At the end, you'll spill out onto NF590A. Take a right and climb for a bit until you reach the
Ewok trail off to your left which gives you one more great section of fast downhill singletrack.
Ewok spills out onto Platte Rd which you can ride to Seville Ln and take all the way back to US Hwy 2 and your car or (as this route shows) take a left on the Coram Forest Rd and finish down the old original trail system which spills you back onto the bike path and close to your car.
