Description

This southern section of the Nez Perce Trail is not part of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT), although through-hikers do sometimes use it as an alternative route. The trail is motorized and open to dirt bikes. This half is a little steeper and more technical than it's northern counterpart, meaning that if you are ascending from the South, there are some sections where you may need to get off your bike and push. There are lots of roots, rocks, and depending on the season, sections of mud and ruts.

The trail can be accessed from the North from the Nez Perce Trailhead. Take exit 138 from I-15 North. Take a right on Elk Park Rd, then a left on Nez Perce Rd and follow it 2.5 miles to the Trailhead.

Access from the South would be from Halfway Creek Rd which comes off Delmoe Lake Rd. Halfway Creek is a very steep and rocky doubletrack, be prepared for some sections of bike pushing if you are ascending.
