Need to Know

Montana Tech Open Space Park is a non-motorized multi-use trail system. There are two main Parking Areas, one at the top (North) of the park on Orofino Gulch Rd, and one at the Bottom (South) of the park at the end of W Park St. There are no facilities such as bathrooms or water available at the Park.

Description

Trail goes to the summit of the Big Butte Hill which has an awesome view looking over the town of Butte, and the mountains in the background. The trail is wide, but tends to get a lot of loose rocks and ruts from the rain. The upper half of the trail is quite steep, and it makes a good challenge to see how far up you can ride before the inevitable bike push. Taking your bike to the top is worth it for the photo, and riding back down can be pretty fun.
