Features Technical

Overview

A fun, 3 mile technical route that takes you through the Horse Gulch Trail System.

Description

Start your climb at the Horse Gulch parking area and head up the road. You'll climb the road for a bit passing the turn for Meadow Loop where the benches are. Continue climbing for roughly 5 minutes to reach the Rocky Road cutoff on the left. Rocky Road lives up to its name...it is a technical rocky climb so be prepared to work hard! There are punchy steep climbs in this trail, as well as loose rock. The last pitch of this climb before the top is a long sustained steep hill. Once you reach the top, enjoy views of Fort Lewis College and town below or continue on left towards the Snake Charmer trailhead. The trail that takes you to the trailhead is also technical with lots of rocks and drop. You can either go right to hit the drop, or stay left to go around.
Once you get to the Snake Charmer trail, enjoy more rocky technical riding! This trail is primarily natural rock features with minimal flow. Flow can be found if you try hard enough though! There are no mandatory drops on this trail, but a few you can hit if you would like.
Once you finish the Snake Charmer trail, follow the trail to the Half Ridge intersection and take a left to follow the road back to your car.
