Garrity Mountain Trail passes through the Garrity Mountain Wildlife Management Area to the south of Garrity Mountain. The WMA is closed to all public access from Dec 1 - May 15 each year for wildlife winter range. Outside of this, a Montana Conservation License is required to access all WMAs
Need to Know
Most commonly ridden as a loop called the "
Garrity Grunt" which accesses the top of this trail via 4.5 miles of an unnamed gravel road off MT-1. There is plenty of parking at this end. To ride this as an out and back you would start from the bottom of the trail where there isn't much of a trailhead or parking, but you could probably find a spot on the side of Stumptown Road.
Description
Most of the trail is old non-motorized doubletrack, but nature has slowly been reclaiming it so many sections are starting to feel more like singletrack. The trail has a variety of surfaces, including some rocky sections, and some where you are riding on grass. It is not a particularly fast trail, but it is low-intermediate in difficulty and goes through some pretty country-side.
