Overview
This trail is not used very much but if you want to put in the work climbing 7 miles and gaining.
Description
Take a left off Hwy 2 on Thompson River Road. After a few miles, the Murr Creek trailhead is on the left. Park in the spacious lot, and the trail starts off to the right with clear signage.
Climb this seldom-used trail off the normal mountain bikers' path all the way until you get to the junction of Murr Overlook and Pinehill Trail. This trail takes you through meadows, rocky sidehills, and beautiful forests. It's not too steep and is a grind well worth the downhill you'll earn.
Turn left and climb the Pinehill Trail to the top of Murr Peak. This trail is a bit steeper and much rockier, and you might have to hike-a-bike a bit in sections as the views open up and you continue motivated by the 7-mile downhill you're earning.
Walk out to the edge of Murr Peak and look back West to McGregor Lake and into the Flathead Valley.
Now it's finally time to descend 7 miles back to your car. Hang on and have fun!!
