Overview
These trails do not get much use and are very raw and untamed. Follow the cairns and grind to the top of Tuchuck Peak earning simply incredible views of Glacier National Park and the Canadian Rockies as well as a screaming, uninterrupted 7 mile downhill.
Description
Off the North Fork Road, turn left onto Trail Creek Road FR114. Either park at the bottom of Rd 114A and ride up to the trailhead or drive up 114A to the trailhead, creating your finish and the loop. The Thoma Tuchuck Peak trailhead begins through very thick alder brush but don't dismay, it doesn't last too long.
You'll need to follow the cairns at times as the trail is either very faint or, at times, nonexistent as you grind 7 miles to the top of Thoma Tuchuck Peak. This is an awesome, steady climb that is never too steep but takes you up and down on a knife ridge that begins to introduce you to the incredible views you are in store for.
Once you reach the top of Tuchuck Peak, enjoy lunch and the simply indescribable views all directions to the Canadian Rockies, Glacier National Park, the Whitefish Range, and the North Fork.
Now bomb back down the peak trail to the Thoma Tuchuck Creek trailhead junction, where you'll take a right and bomb all the way down to the Trail Creek Road and campground. This trail is very brushy, so watch out for handlebar snatchers that can flip you in an instant. You'll want to open it up, and if this trail was brushed properly, it would simply be incredible, but I'd recommend taking it easy around and through all the brush and little trees that have grown up along the edge of the trail. Maybe take the opportunity to continue to catch the views before the disappear into the fun and flowy creek bottom and thick forest.
Ride the Trail Creek Road back to your car.
