Features Downhill

Garrity Mountain Trail passes through the Garrity Mountain Wildlife Management Area to the south of Garrity Mountain. The WMA is closed to all public access from Dec 1 - May 15 each year for wildlife winter range. Outside of this, a Montana Conservation License is required to access all WMAs.

Need to Know

There is a very basic parking area at the bottom of the trail.

Description

This alternative to the Garrity Mountain Trail is much steeper and looser than its counterpart. It's an OK trail for a descent, but if you are ascending it's likely you'll have sections pushing your bike. ATV's have access to the lower portion, but all motorized vehicles are forbidden from entering the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) which starts about half a mile up the trail. Past this point the trail is more narrow and can sometimes be a little overgrown and prone to erosion. The upper section of the trail passes through some meadows where you'll have some nice views looking East down the Anaconda Valley towards the town. The junction of this trail with Garrity Mountain Trail is unmarked, and it can be easy to miss the turn-off if you are descending.
