Description
Park at Tunnel
Spring Trailhead and Park, cruise south on the wide, easy, and well-travelled section of BST. As you get closer to Lost Lad, you'll start a moderate climb. You'll go over a hill as you approach the bottom of Lost Lad. The trail is still a wide gravel path.
Continue climbing up a moderate steep hill through the gate to the
Tower Access Rd. Tower Access road is a loose, wide, and very steep jeep road. There are lots of loose cobble and gravel on the trail making it hard to keep momentum up past the Radio Towers.
Once you pass the last Radio Towers, you're about done climbing. The road becomes less-steep and you can catch your breath. It is mostly sagebrush on top of the ridge so you won't have any shade, but the views of Salt Lake are awesome. As you get close to the top of Lost Lad, you'll descend a hill and veer north.
Stay left at the fork to enter Lost Lad. Rip the berms and root jumps and hit the optional meadow gap on your way down. The trail alternates between mostly thick scrub oak and grassy meadows. Near the bottom the trail turns into a mini
Bobsled with a few boulder drops to keep you on your toes. Exit Lost lad (do another lap if you have energy), or go right (north) back along BST to finish at the Tunnel
Spring TH.
