This routes takes riders from Silverton to Velocity Basin, and a hike a bike to descend Boulder Gulch.

MUST carry bike while on BLM in Velocity Basin.

This is in all ways an epic ride in true Silverton fashion. The ride starts on the north end of Silverton where you'll park on CR 34 at the parking area. You'll then start the pedal towards Velocity Basin via CR 110. This will go on until you get to the Gladstone Water Treatment Plant where you'll turn right and head up CO RD 52 all the way up into Velocity Basin. Once topping out on the road in Velocity Basin, riders MUST hop off their bike and carry it up. Not only is the grade too steep but riders must also abide by BLM regulations about bikes. The hike a bike starts and is pretty brutal but has absolutely epic views the whole way up! After you hit the ridge, you'll continue to climb and traverse the ridge until finally reaching the top. Make sure to look 360 and really soak in all the views as it truly is breathtakingly beautiful up there. Now the real fun begins and the descent starts. Follow the faint beginning and it will getter clearer as you go. Enjoy everything Boulder Gulch has to offer! Scree fields, some nice rock sections, traversing through high alpine tundra, switchbacks, and more. A real high country experience!
