This routes takes riders on a loop of Coal Creek before climbing back up to descend Engineer Mountain Trail.

Two car shuttle leaving one vehicle at the bottom of Coal Bank Pass on the south side and the other vehicle at the parking for Pass Creek Trail on the top of Coal Bank Pass. The ride starts with a climb up Pass Creek Trail to the base of Engineer Mtn. Turn right and continue up Engineer Mountain Trail until presented with a split. Stay right and continue climbing towards Coal Creek Trail. Descend Coal Creek Trail which is arguably the best bang for your bike high country trail in the area! Once at the bottom, start the road climb for about 10 minutes back up Coal Bank Pass to the Pass Creek Trail for your second climb up. At the base of Engineer Mountain, hang a left this time to stay on Engineer Mountain Trail. This will be your second big descent of your ride and probably the most known and ridden high country descent in the area and for good reason. A ride with two classics in one!
