Need to Know

There is a trailhead with plenty of parking space, but no services at the bottom of the trail on Pole Creek Rd.
There isn't a lot of water on this trail until the last section where the trail traverses and drops into a small gully.

Description

Pole Creek is a backcountry trail that continues eastward from Casey Meadows Trail down to Pole Creek Road. The majority of it is steep and rocky with few corners or switchbacks to relieve you from endless punishment. To ascend this trail would involve a lot of bike pushing, and unfortunately other ways to access the top of this trail (via Casey Meadows Trail or Sheep Park Trail) also involve bike pushing. There are some nice views near the top of this trail, however better views are probably found a little higher up on Casey Meadows Trail.

At the top of the trail, there is nothing official such as a sign to mark the distinction between Casey Meadows Trail, but it starts at the junction with Sheep Park Trail. The top part of the trail passes through some grassy meadows and disappears for a while, but just follow your nose straight down the hill and you'll find the continuation. While these clearings are a little annoying, know that you'll likely beg for some clearings to break up the brutal onslaught of steep and rocky trail that awaits you lower down!
