Description

A 58-mile dirt and gravel road / jeep road from Highway 12 near Escalante, Utah to the Hole-In-the-Rock trail at Lake Powell. There are section that can be soft deep sand, especially after wind storms. The road is generally a sandy, dusty, washboard road. No water or services, Extremely Hot in the Summer, best visited in Spring, Fall, and Winter. This road follows the historic pioneer trail as they looked for an alternate route to Arizona across the Colorado River. The road gets rougher and has more turns, switchbacks, and rocky spots as it gets closer to Lake Powell.
