Description
Start at the
Kiln-It Parking Lot just west of I-70. Ride Up
Kiln-It which is a gentle switchbacking climb that is about as good as a climb-trail gets. You'll cross over the
Carin-Age trail in the lower portion of the climb. Look for the sculpted berms and drops that you'll hit on the way back down. There are a few rock gardens and steep areas as you climb. Views get better as you climb.
Near the top, fork right on Lower
Faulty. You'll drop into a wash and cross the drainage onto the
Faulty ridge with its' switchbacks and some awesome views back to the valley and into the canyon north of the ridge. After 2 miles on
Faulty , you'll be at the top of
Juniper Drop. This trail is short but so fun. There are a sculpted berms, jumps and optional rollers to gap. Near the bottom there are several rocky sections and rock drops that will challenge novice riders.
Finish Juniper, cross the drainage back to the connector road. Turn left on the jeep road / doubletrack and Drop into the High line trail and fork Left again to stay on
Kiln-It . (Advanced riders can fork right to hit the amazing
Telegraph Trail here as an optional finish.) Take the XC - ish section of
Kiln-It back to the summit where you started on faulty. This time you'll drop into
Carin-Age.
Enjoy the ridge line rock garden and a couple rock jumps as you wind through hoodoos and the red sandstone cliffs dropping back to the valley. Fork right to stay on
Carin-Age (optional left to do
Snake Bite ) where multiple swooping berms, jumps, rock drops and flow await. Hit high speeds as you flow down the trail with a few rock drops and rock gardens to keep you on your toes, you'll cross over the climb trail
Kiln-It as you get towards the bottom and finish with an bigger optional rock drop shortcut and an optional rock-stacked gap right before you merge back onto the dirt road back to the parking lot.
