Overview

Starting with fast pedaling around the base of Mouth Elden, This loop brings you to some less-traveled corners of Flagstaff. The crux of the route is climbing up Little Bear Trail, which seems daunting but is well worth the effort.

Description

From the Sandy Seep trailhead climb around the base of Mount Elden on the Elden Springs/Arizona Trail. This section is often flowy as it winds through several small hills. In dry weather, there may be small sections of sand to navigate. The climb up Little Bear trail is long and demanding, but well worth the effort. Great views looking across Schultz Pass to Fremont Peak. Higher up the trail old growth trees and meadows await. Heart Trail is a fun and engaging downhill with your arms pumped by the bottom. Return on the Arizona trail to the Sandy Seep parking lot.
An easier variation of this would be an out-and-back to Schultz Tank.
