Parking is at the Montgomery Whitewater Center which also serves food and beer. Access the trails by proceeding trough the park gates then riding the concrete path around the west side of the white water park until it connects with Riverside Drive. It will appear like the public isn't allowed on Riverside Drive, but it is legit. Access with a personal bike is free, bikes can be rented from the Whitewater Center for a small fee. Helmets and closed toe shoes are required for mountain bikers. Hikers, trailrunners and birders are also welcome. Trails are maintained by the Whitewater Center.
Description
Marked by blue blazes the River trail parallels Riverside Drive for approximately 100m before following the contours of the cove. A short but steep climb, with a switchback, brings riders views of the Alabama River. The trail meanders back into the woods several times to explore the hardwood trees before ending 50 feet from the trailhead.
