Overview

Easy access E-MTB route. Waypoints are; top of Two Bit at 8:15AM, Country Club Dr. and Vandemolen Dr. at 8:30AM, Pumpkin Rock at 8:45AM, and Doty Trust upper parking lot at 9:00AM.

Need to Know

We try to meet up at the following way points on weekends: top of Two Bit at 8:15AM, Country Club Dr. and Vandemolen Dr. at 8:30AM, Pumpkin Rock at 8:45AM, and Doty Trust upper parking lot at 9:00AM. Some riders may peel off to ride other sections or repeat downhills.

Description

The main route has very technical sections intended for expert riders. There are alternative lines for intermediate and beginner riders. A good percentage of us riding are older guys who are past our 'expert' days and choose the beginner lines out of caution. Encourage riders of all abilities with e-MTBs to come and try the route. Due to the steepness and technical nature of some of the climbs, recommend that beginners only try with an e-MTB. There is also an alternate route to add the cemetery cross climb and a descent to Hidden Valley Nature Center, but will post separately, as it leaves out a fun downhill section behind the seminary.

History & Background

I've been riding these trails since the 80's. Back then, the golf course and mc mansions were not there. Prime XC trails, but with progress, those have been lost and now mostly climbing and descending. La Sierra Hills was originally a Mexican land grant known as Rancho La Sierra de Sepulveda. The seminary was once the Hole Mansion, built by a wealthy lumber baron, Willits J. Hole, beginning in 1913. There are still some traces of the rock quarry that was used to build the mansion. Adjacent to the trail is the old Wyle labs where among other things, rockets were tested. Some great trails in that area that are maintained by a local rider.
