Overview
Take a lap on one of the first trails ever built in Eagle Mountain.
Flintstone is the one of the oldest and best trails in Eagle Mountain IMO (*if you like DH and technical trails, you'll probably like it too). Most of Eagle Mountain is pretty flat and XC oriented, but
Flintstone has some spicy downhill tech. Unless you can get someone with a truck or 4x4 to shuttle you, this is the best (shortest) route to lap
Flintstone. The trail is narrow, steep and loose, with sharp rocks, and some rocky drops.
Description
This loop starts at the Mountain Ranch Bike park where you can park between Jacob's Way and Sparrow Hawk Road on Golden Eagle Road. Head south up the bike park access path (gravel) to the ridgeline. Head southeast on
Cow Tracks to the rock pile parking area. Take a left on
Bugs Bunny at the rock pile and ride it up to connect to Hidden hollow doubletrack to the top of
Flintstone. Enjoy the views of Utah Lake and all the Eagle Mountain trails before you drop in.
Flintstone is steep, narrow, loose, and technical. So don't crash on the sharp rocks.
There are a couple of alternate routes down
Flintstone and some decent sized drops on the alternate lines, so look before you leap. Finish at Porter's Crossing dirt road and head back north to the same paved road; Porter's Crossing. There may be a gate there to stop trucks, but you should always be able to get a bike through. Hang a left on East Golden Road and back to the Eagle Mountain bike park where you started. This trail system is mostly gravel and sand and gets less precipitation than other areas in Northern Utah, so it is usually GTG for all but a few weeks of the year. Due to the heat and arid soil, the EaMo trails are best in
Spring and Fall. Summer is do-able but hot and dusty.
History & Background
This trail is located on Utah State Trust Land (SITLA) and was temporarily closed due to a potentially dangerous shooting area with litter and debris being left near the bottom of the
Flintstone and
Shooting Gallery Trails. Be a good steward and leave no trash behind. Support / Follow Lake Mountain Trails Association (LMTA) for info and dig days.
