In just over 7 miles you'll get to experience some awesome "north of Boston," riding. The singletrack is twisty, with some punchy ups and downs, and overall is a blast to ride. It's technical enough to be mountain biking, but not so much that most intermediate riders will still have a blast. Get this one on your list!
You'll find a couple of parking spots, but this starts from the inner one, before the closed gate. From here you'll look north, ride up a short ways and then turn onto
Northside Horseshoe, and the fun begins pretty quickly. You'll be on this trail for about 3 miles of twisty fun. The first mile is mainly two climbs and two descents, and the rest of this trail is a mix of up and down, all while maintaining good flow, with the roots and rocks you'd expect for this area.
In the last mile of this trail, you'll come across a few intersections, and while the other trails won't lead you far off course, they won't be as fun. This section ends ad
Pingree Farm Rd and you'll scoot across and hop onto
Tight Fit for about a half-mile. This ends on
Trail 6-7-8 and you'll take a right and roll along Interstate 95. This is a short distance of fire road, but once you get past the pond on your right, you'll come to another singletrack trail on your right--take that. This is
Big Stones, which has some big rocks on it.
You'll ride through and around some big glacial erratics. Take a right at the intersection of
Trail 8-9-11 , and then another right on
Bridges, which has less bridges than you'd think. This crosses
Trail 8-9-11, loops around, and then ends on
Trail 8-9-11 where you'll take another right, head back south, turn right on the other part of
Big Stones and then turn right again when it hits
Trail 8-9-11 again. Straight ahead you'll see where you came out of
Big Stones the first time, but now you're going to turn right, following
Trail 8-9-11 , bearing right at one intersection, then left, then taking a right onto the more fun side of
Swamp Dodger. This section is a blast.
Take a left at the "T" then right onto
Bay Circuit Trail - Georgetown Rowley West. It's fire road for a bit, and a bit more when you take a left onto
South Loop, but taking a right onto
Shortcut brings you back to the fun. I'm not really sure why it's called
Shortcut because technically it's longer than if you had just stayed on
South Loop. When you do hit
South Loop again, take a right and it will take you back up to
Bay Circuit Trail - Georgetown Rowley West. A quick left then a quick right onto
Singletrack Connector ultimately brings you back to the parking area.
This loop is fun in both directions, but I like clockwise.
You can always tack on some more trails, and when you hit
Pingree Farm Rd, you could over and across Interstate 95 to
Bay Circuit Trail Georgetown Rowley East and all the trails on that side. You can go for days.
