Need to Know

At the time of writing, it appears Toro Park entrance station is closed (at least on weekdays), but be aware there is usually a charge to park inside the park boundary.

Description

The 'Don Byrd' go-around is a narrow singletrack trail which traverses Ollason Peak to the south side.

It is not especially technical, however the challenge being it is very narrow and with some quite severe exposure downhill, so may be unnerving for less experienced riders.

It is primarily an alternative to climbing the final ascent to the Peak (although if it's your first time up here, it's worth making that trip - the views are outstanding on a clear day), and bypasses the steep descent on the far side of the peak known locally as 'Terminal Velocity' - which is part of the Ollason Trail.

The trail is marked with a wooden sign post at the bottom of the final ascent to Ollason Peak.
