Description
They call this trail Mother....for good reason.
Because it reminds you of a warm bowl of soup, like Mother made? No.
Because even your Mother could breeze through this trail? No.
This trail was named with only a single noun, but a variety of added adjectives will come to mind. Mother is a rough, rocky, and technical, "I just took a beating" kind of trail - at least that's how I felt, but don't let me scare you off! Try it for yourself.
The trail is accessed from
IMBA,
POW or
West Leg from the south or
Caldera from the north.
If riding from the beginning from
West Leg, after you pass the
POW trail connect you'll encounter an optional shortcut to the left down a spooky steep black diamond gully, some may want to call an ambulance before heading in this direction or just steer your bike right to more safe & sane terrain. While there is quite a lot of smooth, pleasant trail to enjoy, you'll encounter more than one section that the average intermediate rider will choose to hike due to the consequences of failure.
All in all, the Mother Trail is a great test of your skills and endurance over rough terrain - not a trail most will ride every day but a fine test piece indeed.
