Description

The Trail begins with a doubletrack (later singletrack) switchback climb for about 2 miles that is narrow in spots. You'll be nearly immediately in tree cover and remain there for the rest of the ride. There are a few very steep and switchback climbs.

After another mile of climbing you'll cross a wooden bridge. Don't be discouraged, what follows is a fast and flowy singletrack descent following the contours of the mountain back down. It's mostly smooth singletrack with a few small sections requiring technical riding skills, but not many.

Watch your speed on the descent as there are some places where you could slide down an edge. Overall, it's a bit more than "Intermediate", but a bit less than "Difficult".

Once done with the trail, follow the fireroad downhill about a mile to the first bridge. Cross that to follow the road (up hill) about 4 miles back to Downieville.

Rode as an O-A-B. Fun trail, great to soak in the river at both ends, but don't underestimate the amount of climbing. Trail gets VERY narrow in spots.

Hard up, hard down. Cross the fire road and clamber down to the river. River soak. Hard up, hard down. River soak. Well deserved smoothie. Nap time.
