Description

Hoffman Hollow is a long climb of approximately 2.3 miles beginning at the Kanawha Sate Forest rifle range and ending on Middle Ridge Rd. (Forest Rd. 801) at the rear of Kanawha State Forest. The climb starts out at a mild gradient and is on an old gas well service road. The road has not been used in some time, and can be overgrown in places down to singletrack.

About halfway through, you'll pass a gas well. From this point on, the climb becomes significantly steeper, with three sections with an approx. 20% grade. Once on top of the ridge, Middle Ridge Rd. can be used to access many of other trials in the area, including MIddle Ridge Trail and Black Bear.
