At a slower pace, sections of this ride are perfect for kids learning to mountain bike.
Overview
This ride makes a mid-length loop with entertaining up and downs, tight trees, and wide open sections. This loop will challenge newer riders while keeping skilled riders interested with variety and opportunities to let it fly.
Need to Know
Some notes about the trail: The trail is for bikes only, but does cross walking and equestrian paths, so use proper trail etiquette. If you come across a horse, stop and speak in a calm voice so as not to startle the horse.
Description
From the trailhead at Parking Lot 5, take the singletrack. The
Green Loop and
Blue Loop start out together. The ride starts with a gentle climb that soon levels out. Continue through the twists and turns and you'll come to a split in the trail. The left fork takes you on the
Blue Loop (intermediate loop) and the right fork takes you on the beginner
Green Loop.
Next up is some nice singletrack through the woods. Trail construction is still going on, so you may find a slightly different route or some altered features. The Waukesha Bike Alliance volunteers continue to work adding more trail, fun berms, rollers, rock gardens, and other fun features to add some nice spice to the ride. You'll find some very tight trees to navigate through. There are also some tight climbing and descending turns. These can be fairly technical for a newer rider, but you never go too far without crossing a section of doubletrack or another bail-out if needed.
Once you meet back up with the
Green Loop, you are not far from the meadow section. Here you can let the bike run! See how fast you can rail the corners and see just how much traction your tires have! Most of this section of the trail is smooth singletrack. At a slower pace, it is perfect for kids learning to mountain bike. Continue along the trail until you get to another fork. The left fork takes you back to the parking lot and the right fork takes you back to the trail for some more fun.
