Description
Please note the out-and-back to the falls is 7.6 miles.
The Yellow Trail offers a unique cycling experience for the entire family, with scenery found no where else in the Atlanta Metro area. This flowing trail provides access to the scenic Henry Mill Falls. The lower cycle trail is easy enough for beginners if they take their time, but has enough flow that the experienced rider will also love the trail. Be sure to take time to relax at the falls before beginning your return ride.
The falls offer a great experience for children as it allows them to take a break before the ride back to the car. If 7+ miles is too far for you or your child there is a large rock outcrop about 1.5 miles in that kids love to play on.
The more experienced rider will want to checkout The Wall Loop which is clearly marked and will be on your right, uphill, two-tenths of a mile from your turnaround at the falls. The Wall Loop should be considered at least moderate and, as such, this trail offers a much more backcountry-like experience with narrow singletrack, that is a combination of machine and hand-built trails.
After about one mile, the trail begins to climb The Wall, so named as it looks like a rock wall when viewed from the bottom. Once to the top, take your time to soak in the scenery and climb on some of the huge boulders the trail meanders through. You'll find the scenery in this portion of the park too unbelievable and you'll wonder how you are only minutes from downtown Atlanta.
There is another rideable yellow trail through Zack's Glade but is not used by cyclists. Do not enter the trail marked horses only, it is very muddy.
Please note there is an equestrian trail that parallels the lower half of the loop and is marked for horses only. Do not ride this trail as it will lead to impassible mud holes that are bike destroyers and will ruin your visit to the park.
