Overview
A six-mile loop with a long, but moderate, climb takes riders from the base of the ski lift up the ridge beyond. There are some great views while you ascend, then it's time to drop in on the
Blue Ridge Trail for a fast and at times technical descent that's all fun!
Description
The ride starts at the bottom of the ski slopes, and the first part of the climb parallels a small ski lift. At the end, take a right onto a fire road. From there, it's a steady moderate climb on a fire road to just east of the Inspiration Point
Trail.
As soon as you pass a metal gate and garbage bin, take a sharp left onto the Blue Ridge Truck
Trail (East Blue Ridge Road). It's partly asphalt and rocks due to snow erosion, but overall it isn't a hard pedal, though you may encounter some vehicles along the way to the Blue Ridge Campground. Keep going east from there until you see the Discovery Lift. To the left is a sign marked
Blue Ridge Trail.
This is the start of the downhill. The
Blue Ridge Trail is quite fast, but it does alternate between long straight sections and narrow parts with tight switchbacks, so don't get too carried away. Also, be on the lookout for hikers!
