Overview
The Mineral Point trails are popular biking and hiking trails that provide great views of Lake Pend Oreille. Once on top, the
Lost Lake Trail 81 and
Mud Lake Trail 91 loops add more length/singletrack to the ride.
Need to Know
These trails can be damp and slick in some areas even in dry conditions. Keep on the lookout for pedestrians. Use extremely good trail etiquette in this area.
Description
This route is a great technical ride that offers up some amazing views of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountain ranges like the Monarch Mountains and the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Area. It also leads you through the deep, dark forest of the area and alongside some small, hidden lakes.
To access this ride, start off from the Green Bay Area Parking Lot on
Mineral Point Trail 82 as it winds you up to Mineral Point. From Mineral Point, you'll be lead up to the Upper Mineral Point parking lot and Day Use Area. Pick up Trail 82 again and continue on. As you twist and turn, climb and descend, Trail 82 ends at a small, dirt cul-de-sac at the end of Green Bay Road (Forest Road 532).
Pick up the
Lost Lake Trail 81 trailhead just opposite the Trail 82 trailhead. Continue on
Lost Lake Trail 81 for a 1/2 mile then take a right beginning on
Mud Lake Trail 91. You'll start a little climb up and around Mud Lake and then climb a little bit more where Trail 91 ends at Green Bay Road.
Take a left onto Green Bay Road and continue 3/4 of a mile to where the road to the Upper Parking Lot of Mineral Point intersects Green Bay Road. Take a left on a short Jump Trail off Trail 81. It dives off of Green Bay Road (NO SIGN). Follow your
MTB Project mobile app.
Keep left on
Lost Lake Trail 81 to follow the trail alongside Lost Lake. Ride past Lost Lake and make the short climb, taking another left at the trail intersection. From here, you'll ride north on
Lost Lake Trail 81 dropping on a couple of steep descents back to the end of Green Bay Road.
Pick up the
Mineral Point Trail 82 again and rifle back down to the Upper Parking Lot of Mineral Point. From here, enjoy the fun descent to the Green Bay Parking Area where you started.
